As Action’s Business Portfolio Manager, you’ll play a key role in the Marketing & Format department, part of our commercial function, reporting directly to the Marketing & Format Director.

Purpose of the job

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the selection, prioritization, and control of projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and company capacity.
  • Quarterly Business Review (QBR): Facilitate the quarterly cycle where the Management Team and leads reflect on performance, align on business priorities, OKRs, projects, and initiatives for the upcoming quarter.
  • Project Execution: Refine initiatives throughout the quarter, following standardized processes and utilizing workflow management tools to track portfolio elements.
  • Scalability & Culture: Focus on scaling the company while preserving the strong Action culture, unique business formula, and customer proposition that drive Action’s success.
  • Strategic Thinking: Diagnose potential risks and handle complex, multi-project environments with high-level project scheduling and strategic decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Management: Facilitate challenging discussions with senior leaders and respond effectively to positive and negative feedback, driving collaboration across the organization.
  • Change Leadership: Lead change efforts, persuade stakeholders to adopt uniform and efficient practices, and ensure end-to-end results for stores and customers are optimized.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuous Improvement: Support the Marketing & Format Director in tracking initiatives, aligning business objectives, and coordinating with Management Team members.
  • Team Leadership: Build, lead, and coach project teams to drive change and continuous improvement.
  • Work Transition: Plan and manage multiple projects, ensuring they are completed within the agreed timeframe and budget. Facilitate decision-making and lead transformation efforts.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proactively engage with internal stakeholders to keep them updated on project progress and outstanding issues.
  • Reporting & KPI Management: Monitor progress, evaluate reports, and ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
  • People Management: Inspire and coach team members, encourage new ideas, and foster a positive, results-oriented work environment.

For who are we looking?

  • Hard Skills:
    • University-level work and thinking, with at least a completed Bachelor’s degree.
    • Minimum of 10 years in program, transition, or project management, with lead responsibility for at least 4 complex projects.
    • Expertise in operations and marketing, particularly in multi-country retail environments.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Proven change leader who can motivate and energize large groups.
    • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and build consensus.
    • Skilled in planning, coordination, and delegation, utilizing a variety of skills to achieve a shared vision.
    • Ability to think and act beyond one’s own department.
    • Project management expertise, with experience in Agile methodologies.
    • Highly structured and organized.
    • Fluent in English and Dutch; proficiency in another language is a plus.
